ever since i left the project sekai fandom in... 2025? maybe late 2024, i haven't really considered myself a part of a fandom. now, deltarune is maybe the closest i've come; i'm lurking on the message boards and i'm relatively in check with whatever meme is cropping up but i haven't been in a fandom actively for reals. now i've played some games and watched some shows since then. but i don't know at what point am i supposed to be a "fan". i think people have propelled themselves to be either a devotee, ride or die for something or just a casual. you have 100 pieces of merch or you have none. nevermind that i fall in the 2nd category for merch lol. but it's become harder to be 'new' at something. iupiter strike you down if you have a question! gatekeeping has been replaced by being niche. for music, don't let anyone call you a poser. you don't have to listen to the whole discography. one of my music playlists is called 'poser playlist' 'cause i'm so scared of the whole "name 3 songs" thing. no one can call you a poser if you call yourself one first!
follow-up: there this cover of the sonic underground theme song called 'larpers underground'. i haven't watched that show. i guess that kinda makes it ironic?
i don't think i've ever hated furries. but i definitely wasn't fond of them. in a video recording on my camcorder, i mention that you "have to reconcine yourself with furries; whether you hate them or you don't think you hate them. you've gotta reconile yourself." and this is because i've had a revelation of sorts lately. well not really, but i realized that i didn't like them. i always thought that i was indifferent but i secretly thought they were weird and resented them for charging so much. i watched those cringe comps and though all furries thought they were more animal than human. which, even if so, is none of my beeswax. also furries were pretty synonymous with fetish art back when and even now. this is funny 'cause i loved pokemon and even wrote eevee x pikachu fanfic on wattpad. like?? hello?? the call is coming fron inside the house. dunno what the major change was. maybe it was going outside. maybe it was my new-found interest in personal websites. or perhaps it was the fandoms i find myself lurking in... but i think i've reconciled myself with furries. maybe i'll figure out why soon.
when rabit hole by DECO*27 first came out, there was immediately controversy regarding Miku's fit and the content of the song. some claimed it was a character separate to miku, and so wasn't subject to being 16. but then again, some people claimed it was fine 'cause miku was fictional, every depiction of her wasn't, y'know, 16. around this time, there was a lot of what people called "newgens" in the community. older fans complained, chiding the newbies for being soft and that they wouldn't survive plus boy, or shota shota island, or the numberous amount of lewd len songs that floated about. now, i'm doing a tangent but it's related i promise, VOCALOID and the PJSEKAI fandom is, whether they enjoy it or not, is real intertwined and the style of humor of PJSEKAI fans, and newer VOCALOID fans overlap a bunch. calling things freaky, things that're bald, that 1* akito shinonome card. now, focusing on the freaky part, is that they would put '𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂' in their names or memes, and it was funny 'cause it was usually unexpected or made whatever they commented make sense. r/usernamechecksout (i know reddit is bad for me, shhhh). but i think this came to be some kinda defensive mechanism for things depicting sex or the nude body. mizuki had always been subject to this kinda art 'cause she was suspected to be under the trans umbrella and so people wanted to depict her unease with her body, which started to pick up after mizu5. i watched this music video by Madame Esprit called 'idonknowwhoiambutthesexgoeson', which has very explict visuals, which is why only the censored version is on youtube, and one of the comments is calling the song freaky, and i just feel like that's missing the point of the song. of course the commentor could've just been trying to make a joke, but the message of the song (imo) is someone losing themselves and using sex to fill the hole where they would be. being dismissive or avoidant of this stuff just paints you as immature. and it's fine not to like stuff about sex, or nude. i just think it gets to a point.
